Hexagram 9 of 64 · King Wen sequence

Small Taming

小畜 · xiǎo chù

Above: Heaven
Below: Wind

Heaven above wind: small forces gently restrained — a dense cloud, rain not yet falling.

A small bird tames a great horse — not by strength, but by gentle persistent pressure applied at the right hairs. Small Taming is the hexagram of the not-yet: power accumulates, clouds mass, but the rain cannot be commanded down early.

This is a season for restraint as craft. Polish, save, rehearse, refine the small handles that will guide the large force later. The frustration here is real, and so is the payoff: what you tame now, small, you will not have to brake later, big.
