Hexagram 55 of 64 · King Wen sequence

Abundance

丰 · fēng

Above: Thunder
Below: Fire

Thunder and lightning together: the peak of the day — abundance at noon, with an eclipse already scheduled.

Thunder and lightning arrive together: Abundance is the hexagram of the peak — the noon of a venture, brightness at maximum, the whole field lit. Its counsel is strange only until you have lived it: the sun at noon has an eclipse on the schedule.

The discipline of the peak is to act hugely while it lasts (meet the queen of the moment; do not save your best for later) and to know the eclipse is not a failure — it is astronomy. Make the noon decisions that will still look wise in the shade.

Questions this hexagram asks

What decision, made now, will still look wise during the eclipse?
Who should be invited into the abundance while the light is at maximum?
