Earth above wind: the tree pushing up through the soil — growth by accumulated small effort toward a welcoming great man.
A tree grows through packed soil, slowly and by the root: Pushing Upward is the hexagram of advancement by accumulation — step by step, hour by hour, toward the great man who receives you (the mentor, the audience, the market) at the top.
Its counsel is about momentum and anxiety: see the great man — do not fear him — and move with the urgency of a confirmed plan rather than the hesitation of an unproven one. The mountain is climbed in increments, and the increment is the whole art.
