Day master · Yin Earth
己土 · Jǐ tǔ
Yin Earth is garden soil — earth as care rather than structure. A Ji day master tends to be practical and nourishing: the one who remembers the details of other people's lives and does the quiet work that lets things take root.
In a four pillars chart, the day stem is the self around which everything else is read. Ji's self tends to express through tending — feeding, mending, scheduling, noticing — competence in the service of growth.
Earth in the Chinese calendar governs the season-transitions; Ji's version is the kitchen garden through them: what to plant, what to prune, what to leave alone. Fertility without noise.
The shadow is self-erasure — soil exists for the crop. The reflection is letting yourself be cultivated too: what feeds you this season?
