Day master · Yang Wood
甲木 · Jià mù
Yang Wood is the image of a great tree — a trunk that grows straight because it must. People with Jia as their day master tend to carry a natural uprightness: they would rather be respected than liked, and they notice when a situation has no backbone.
In the four pillars of destiny, the day master is the stem of your birth day — the "self" all other symbols arrange around. With Jia there, growth is the instinct. New projects, new skills, new ground: the tendency is to extend upward and outward, sometimes before checking whether the season is right.
Wood in the Chinese calendar belongs to spring — the season of beginnings. That framing travels with Jia people: an eye for what could start now, and less patience for what must wait. The mirror-question is patience with roots: a canopy is funded by everything invisible underground.
When a Jia day master feels stuck, the block is usually rigidity rather than weakness — the tree bends in wind, and the skill of bending is itself a wood skill.
